Hey, folks,

I am having some trouble finding where to find the permissible cities through which I can transfer during a potential MR. Are the "city pairs," from this sample fare from united.com, considered cities that one can book through to during an MR?

Sorry for the mass amounts of text, but, I wanted to make sure I was clear:

4 TRANSFERS PERMITTED. NOTE - FARE BREAK SURFACE SECTORS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
Combinations ADD-ONS NOT PERMITTED. END-ON-END PERMITTED. VALIDATE ALL FARE COMPONENTS. TRAVEL MUST BE VIA POINT OF COMBINATION. OPEN JAWS/2-COMPONENT CIRCLE TRIPS/MULTI-COMPONENT CIRCLE TRIPS FARES MAY BE COMBINED ON A HALF ROUND TRIP BASIS WITH ANY FARE FOR ANY CARRIER IN ANY RULE AND TARIFF. -TO FORM SINGLE OR DOUBLE OPEN JAWS/2-COMPONENT CIRCLE TRIPS/MULTI-COMPONENT CIRCLE TRIPS. OPEN JAWS/ROUND TRIPS/CIRCLE TRIPS NOTE - WHEN COMBINED ON A HALF ROUND TRIP BASIS WITH A ROUND TRIP FARE TO FORM ROUND/CIRCLE/OPEN JAW TRIPS--THE MOST RESTRICTIVE PROVISIONS APPLY. THESE INCLUDE MIN/MAX STAY- RESERVATIONS/TICKET REQUIREMENTS -STOPOVER PROVISIONS-CANCEL/CHANGE PENALTIES/SERVICE CHARGES OR COMBINATION PROVISIONS. NOTE - THE CITY PAIRS BELOW ARE CONSIDERED THE SAME POINT- BWI-WAS FLL-MIA FLL-PBI MIA-PBI BUR-LAX BUR-ONT BUR-SNA LAX-ONT LAX-SNA ONT-SNA OAK-SFO OAK-SJC SFO-SJC EWR-HVN EWR-ISP EWR-NYC EWR-HPN HVN-ISP HVN-NYC HVN-HPN ISP-NYC ISP-HPN NYC-HPN

Thanks!

Thanks!

The part of the text that you have bolded specifies the co-terminals. e.g. BWI and WAS (IAD and DCA) are all considered the same for fare purposes.

In order to get the cities that you can connect through, you need the routing rules, which can be obtained through expertflyer (a pay service). I'm not sure of what sites still are giving the routing rules for free now that expedia.ca stopped.

Let me know the route and the fare basis and I'd be happy to look it up for you.

Oh, so, one has to use ExpertFlyer now? No site gives routing information any more?

If one does not have an ExpertFlyer subscription, does one craft an MR through trial and error?

By the way, thanks for the prompt reply and thanks for helping a rookie! I'll bother you with routing rules once I know a bit more about when and where I'd want to make an MR.

As you'll find elsewhere in this forum, priceline.com still provides routing rules. And I believe Delta does only on their flights.

I use expertflyer myself. Very satisfied with it!
