Looking forward to the experience but nervous of the bridges. I've run shorter distances and powerwalked a whole marathon before but this will be something else. Having had a life threatening illness a few years ago, doing this sort of thing proves to me that I'm alive! And of course I'm doing it for a relevant charity so I feel good about that.

Nearer the time I'll post what I'll be wearing so that if any kind FTers are in town and on the sidelines you may help me along with a cheer.

And, on the practical side, can anyone who's done it before tell me that there are toilets on the route? Worried about this (when I should be woried about so much else!) as someone over here (the UK) told me that there were none. Is that really true?

Congrats!

Portable toilets(including wheelchair accessible) are placed along the course every mile starting at mile 3.

Fun! I'm doing this year's NYC marathon too. It will also be my first. Just got back from a 9 mile training run.

Only 7 miles for me yesterday. Grizzly - I'll wave to you as you speed past me!

Congratulations! I'll be running NYC for the third year in a row. It's a fantastic experience which I'm sure you'll treasure. The bridges are nothing to fear, though they do add a bit to the elevation changes. All told, the course is a bit slower than average, but not by a lot.
