So, we have been to Thailand before, but are dying to go back as part of our honeymoon in November. On our trip last summer we did Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. This time i am looking for a really nice beach resort in a new area, but not someplace that we would never want to leave the resort.

i have looked at some places on Koh Samui, and been looking at the Sarojin in Khao Lak. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Rebecca

Although not a beach resort, the Four Seasons Golden Triangle (http://www.fourseasons.com/goldentriangle/) is a truely magical place for a honeymoon.

I also second MegatopLover's suggestion of Krabi. Koh Samui also looks nice.

Hua Hin
-Evason Hideaway (duplex has some view from pool)

Koh Samui
-Karma (all have view from pool)
-Evason Hideaway (all have view from pool)

new places, beach, private pools

you might also want to look at private villas

Samui is a very nice place, quite beautiful, especially if you go out into the coconut plantations. Try to stay away from the towns for your stay. They are okay, but the more isolated, luxury resorts are more likely to be suitable for a honeymoon. Since the island is not very big, you will not be that isolated and can go into town if you like.

Samui is quite expensive by Thai standards, but not too bad.

The train and ferry from BKK are fun, once. But you would only want to do that overnighter once, at most.

Beware of the scooter traffic, if you rent one always wear your helmet and real shoes. Don't ride after dark!

November is the wettest month of the year on Koh Samui. They average over 300mm of rain during November. Best to stay on the Andaman Sea side (Phuket, Krabi).

I have been to Samui as well as other places mentioned here. To me, Samui is by far the worst option. The island has become WAY over-developed, and the whole mood of the place is less "welcoming", more "hurry up and spend". And the towns, espcecially Chewang, are just horrid.

To me, Hua Hin and Khao Lak are much, much nicer options. Post Tsunami, the people of Khao Lak are very warm and welcoming, and really seem to appreciate that you have chosen to take your holiday there. Hua Hin, as the summer home of the King, is also a more pleasant experience, as I suspect Thai's do not wish to be disreespectful to their King.

Both are very different places. Khao Lak is more remote, and has more laid back activities ourside of the resorts. Hua Hin has a more urban feel.
