Before the merger US customer service would issue CS0007s, which were good for upgrades, if the situation warranted it.
These were great since they came from the P inventory. I tried to use one recently and was told that they were no longer valid for upgrades. Since there was fraud using these, it isn't the worst thing I've heard, besides having some I have never used.
Were these replaced by something else or is the entire program dead?

If you were issued a paper upgrade with no expiration date, they have to accept it. They have the right to suspend upgrade programs but that doesn't invalidate existing upgrades.

Well, I think that was the issue with the CS0007s in the first place. They always had a 12 month ticket-by date (365 days from date of issue). I am not aware of any such certificate issued by the old US east that did not have an expiration date.
They were certainly great while they lasted, weren't they? I remember back when PI and US were merging, I had a few of the old CS0007s knocking around (I believe they carried a "goldfile" back then) and enjoyed a fine flight to SEA on them. Back then, flying across the states in F (even on US) was a real treat with exceptional service and catering.
That was light years before the calzone.
