Taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2, narrow aperture and 20 second exposure. I understand all pictures of this structure at night are considered copyright of the nation of France.
Now I do wish I'd experimented with longer exposure for this one:
Come to think of it, I suspect it could just as easily be Tokyo (Tokyo Tower) or Pyong Yang (where they built of a bigger version of the Arc just to prove how superior those lovely egalitarian commies are to the French).
Now Blackpool............ I reckon that if you take a photo of Blackpool Tower.... just at the right angle with nothing in the background to give the viewer any context........

No--it needs to be a city with both things in it.
Las Vegas.

Nice photos.
Some tips for when doing night photography.
Always use a tripod, always try to make sure buildings are vertical and not skewed to one side, always think about all of the influence of ambient light and always have fun! :)
That first photo, if you crop the lower buildings out and add maybe 0.4-0.9 of CCW rotation in photoshop it should look lovely.

Nah.. its GOT to be Blackpool ;)
Good work on the time delay shot - as stated .. use a tripod... (or if you're lazy.. find something nice and vertical to rest the camera on - the floor is NOT an acceptable solution although it gives an unusual perspective), and be careful on your post processing

Well I did use a tripod but it was my first time and it was all a bit fiddly....
As for cropping and rotating a little, I'm going to crop so it'll print on normal paper anyway so this will be a good opportunity to sort that out.

The second shot must be the arch in Washington Square Park in NYC.
On a serious note thanks for sharing the photos.
Night photography can be tremendous fun. It can take many exposures to get it just right, which can vary depending on your point of view. Experimenting is made much easier by digital and is more cost effective.
