Ok, I just had a new idea for one of these little "no prize" contests. Show a picture of yourself with your camera.

I was downtown today enjoying the start of my 4-day weekend, and decided to have some fun with The Bean.

Nice one, Ben! I think everyone who visits 'the bean' should take a similar self portrait! Maybe your shot should be 'the Ben'. :)
Cheers,
Ben
PS. My new(ish) Oly E-500 has run its Lithium batteries to zero, so I will have to either find a travel charger for my nicad or find more of the lithium batteries... otherwise will do a self-portrait somewhere oncve I also get back home. :)

Well, I hate having my photo taken, so whenever I photograph myself, I try and only show a tiny bit of myself. So, this is no different!
Similarly, about as close as you'll get seeing me in a photo. During a workshop shoot at Dead Horse State Park, Utah over Memorial Day

Magnificent shot!
I've been wondering about these travelling workshops - maybe you can give us a little review of it (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=687215)? :D

Taken on the bus ride from Otavalo to Quito in Ecuador.
That's about as much of me as you'll ever see in a picture I take. In this case I used my "other" camera to get the shot of me with my primary

Grabbed this picture while playing with MY new toys - a Trek hybrid bike and a Canon Elph SD1000. Hoping to use it in situations like this where the SLR would be to much to lug around.

OK mrs alect is the photographer but she's not on FT, so I will be her agent/proxy:
here are a couple (she loves the reflection shots)
On Mt. Coot-tha in Brisbane, Australia. One interesting(? well, to me) thing about it is that I was there on a day trip with another FTer, having met up with her to see some of its sights after Oz Fest 2 in Sydney. (Made missing Oz Fest 3 in Brisbane a bit more tolerable, but only a bit.)
Taken on the way to Turnagin Arm when Missy and I did the Mayor's Half Marathon in June.

What then . . . ? What's The Bean? How did u do that? It's cool.^
"The Bean" is the local nickname given to a new sculpture in Chicago's Millennium Park. The official name for the sculpture is "Cloud Gate", and the sculptor is Anish Kapoor.
Basically, it looks like the name suggests - a 33' tall polished stainless steel bean, reflecting the Chicago skyline and everyone around you (which makes getting a shot with no one but you in it a bit of a challenge). The surface is very regular and smooth, making it great to take shots of the reflected skyline, but the curvature lends itself to some interesting effects, especially underneath the Bean, where you can see dozens of reflections of yourself.

The S/O took a picture of me while in San Francisco (http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1113/1071911891_051936e843_b.jpg).
I think it turned out alright. My Canon AE-1 is around the neck in tourist fashion and my SD800 is somewhere in my pocket.

That sounds cool. I'll have to check it out next time I'm in Chicago. Thanks for the info.^

I haven't clicked into this thread in awhile. Had some catching up to do!
Since this is not a Sticky, I'm bumping it up so that it doesn't get lost. Anyone have a contribution to make to it? A nice Christmas ornament reflection, perhaps? :D

On my way to being dropped off at LAS by a fellow FTer.
This image may not be 100% eligible for posting on this thread, since it shows only a small portion of my golf cap (at bottom, black color). Photo was taken in Nara, Japan 3 days ago.
Edited to move to next post down, to get away from the ad that insists on plastering itself in the middle of the photo.

Taylor's Automatic Refresher drive-in in St. Helena, CA (wine country). It is a very upscale joint, and very popular ..... "A glass of red wine with your burger, ma'am?".
That's a bit of me with the top of my camera at the bottom of the photo.
Photo taken with Canon S500 using 6 inch tall tripod. Only post processing was to resize the photo.
Camera in picture is a Canon 20D with Canon EFS 10-22mm lens.
Location is Government Canyon State Natural Area located adjacent to San Antonio. I was taking pictures of one of the canyons there on Sunday. Wanted a picture for the family.

You can't see my camera in this one, but I am on the first camel.
And that's me on the left in the shadows in the Valley of the Swords in Goreme, Turkey:

Here is a picture of me with my camera. (There are two people in the picture, only one has a camera.) Warning: not porn, but probably NSFW. :)
