Hello Everyone,

I would like to gather some feedback so that
_maybe_ NW may consider switching from US
Bank. I've been with them for 3 years and
after they merged with US Bank service has
become intolerable. Their customer service
is rude and they keep blocking my card
when I travel international even after I tell
them. They are taking the business we provide
them because of NW for granted and I would
like to see nothing better than to watch
NW ditch them like they did Bank One (though
I did like them). I charge abt. 25K annually
with them , but pay $0 in interest and I
have a feeling that they hate me for that.

Cheers,

Sunil

Ah...a little rough with the choice of words, no? CMDR CATCOP will come after you. Sorry for the difficulties, but it seems like it's more of a banking issue than a flying or a FF issue, no? I'd personally drop the card. Good luck!

Just cancelled my card. Going with UA miles via First Card.

And when attempting to do so, I was offered a regular US bank card at 3.9 percent for six months and 9.9 thereafter.

I think it is a Northwest FF issue in that US Bank cardholders that use this site probably have the card to get the miles.

Although I have found their customer service a little better than described, I agree with the originators comments about them doing dumb stuff that takes time to fix. I live overseas had have had my card blocked more than once while visiting the US. When I missed their due date by a couple of days because I had never received a statement and had to call them to find out how much the balance was, they charged me interest, and then interest on the interest because I challenged it. The first problems have been fixed by long distance overseas calls (that I pay for); the latter resulted in an exchange of form letters that I am still disgruntled about.

I moved over from BankOne to keep getting the mileage. Bottom line is, if we want the miles, we’re stuck with them (at least until Northwest makes other arrangements).

I've been considering applying for the NW WP Visa and have found that the operators that handle their enrollment calls to be inconsistent. I've been trying to find out whether purchases made by additional cardholders earn miles for the primary cardholder. The first operator said yes, but the second operator said no. (I called twice to see what kind of enrollment bonus I could get--seems like 3000 miles is the best offer). Does anyone have a definitive answer? By the way, I'm not talking about a card for a co-applicant, but an additional card for which I would maintain financial resposibility. Thanks.

I've seen the enrollment bonus range from 2m-5m, depending on the month and promo.

BTW, if you are GOLD/PLATINUM Worldperks there is no limit on miles awarded monthly or annually.

Agree with knowitall on the 2-5k bonus as I believe I posted previously elsewhere.

Can't imagine the secondary wouldn't get credit. It seems they always do and should!

Forgot to add jokingly, but still truthfully that you can also get a "real nice" t-shirt if you sign up with one of the marketing folks at the airport- if you're interested! You can always use it to sleep in!

Paradox:

I had a NW WP card last year and I received miles for every purchase made on the card by myself, my husband and my daughter. There was no differentiation unless things have changed.

Thanks TravelWeary and doc. I called the toll-free number (800/360-2900) again to ask about the enrollment bonus and miles for additional card holders. Best offer this time was 2000 miles. This operator said that purchases by additional card holders do earn WP miles. I must say that Delta and United both have tempted me with better offers (more miles for getting the card, annual fee waived for the 1st year, etc.), but I now find myself flying NW primarily because I go to MSP regularly. Guess I'm stuck with this card.

If you're not in a hurry you could hold out for a better offer since they change regularly!

Thanks doc, I did not know the promotions change regularly. I thought it was all one and the same forever. Very helpful!

Your welcome. Anytime. Sorry you were so unaware especially since you read this board. No matter. Enjoy!

Paradox- Just got a current NW statement with an offer for 3,000miles at signup. If you need one I'll be pleased to send it yo you but it says call 1-800-360-2900 by 10/31/99 ask for ext 273. 3k is much better than 2k!

Last offer for the US Bank WorldPerks Card (application sent with the statement) was 3,000 bonus miles for enrollment -- Call 1-800-360-2900, Ext. 273 (expires 10/31/99). Definitely not too generous.

This may very well not work because of the way their system is set up. But if you were to speak with a supervisor, you could let them know you're considering several cards, but the deciding factor is the sign-up bonus. You'd very much like to apply for their card but United and Delta are currently offering 10,000 miles and other airlines are offering up to 7,500 miles, ask them if there is any promotion you might be able to take advantage of that isn't normally advertised. Assure them that you'll be a great customer and they'll make lot's of money off of you. You might get a laugh and a much better deal. Even if you strike out it's worth a shot. I've got some of the best deals by trying this! Best of luck! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
