prior to 9/11, have you ever ordered a pizza and had it delivered to the gate? (at airports where non-passengers were allowed inside)

My co-workers and I did this several tims back then, when our flight were delayed... (and there was nothing good to eat around the gates) the domino's or pizza hut would hand out pizzas to us at the gate... we always gave him/her a big tips for the extra effort... a couple of times we even brought the whole pizza onboard, which annoyed the flight attendants quite a bit...

Dining Buzz?

Once that I can recall. At DCA about 20 years ago. No hot food but hot dogs that we could find. A colleague and I called Dominos IIRC. I think it took a few minutes to convince the person who took the call that it wasn't a prank. Just after it arrived, several other co-workers walked up and started drooling, regretting that they hadn't thought about doing the same thing (a few of them thought it was pretty funny to have a pizza delivered to a passenger at the airport).

I had pizza delivered to a glideslope in STL a few years back.

We were overseeing construction and had to work through lunch.
Being that we were using Local 1 for work not taking lunch was not an option.

I spent $300.00. Local 1 worked and ate and in the long run we came out ahead.

I once had Chinese food delivered to a railway platform to meet a train mid-journey. We were travelling Edinburgh - London, and either the dining car was shut or I'd misread the timetable and there was never supposed to be restaurant service. My colleagues and I were very hungry and had been looking forward to eating on the train. I called a Chinese restaurant I knew in York and had food delivered to the platform when the train stopped there. I made sure to order extra bags of prawn crackers for the other passengers in the carriage...
