Are their any restaurants that are only in airports?
Just would be nice to see something unique instead of the Chilli's Too and McDonalds....
Which airport has the best original and unique food outlet?

Funny you should post this just now... I just returned from a trip to San Antonio and had time for a meal at the airport before my plane left. There's a mexican restaurant in the airport called Las Palapas that was really pretty good - even more so considering it was airport food.
My other recommendation is Squatter's Brewpub in the C councourse at SLC. Good porter and pub grub.

In Austin, there are no chains, just outposts of local eateries. That's good, right? :)

Pappadeaux, Terminal E, IAH. Local chain.
Haven't had time to stop in for about 6 months or so, but they used to do a very reasonable lunch buffet.

Cantina Grill at DEN (upstairs).
Not sure if this is a chain or not...though I have only seen in the airport in Denver.

Just to clarify,
Local chains are fine, (Chewy's Austin, Pappadeaux's) in fact welcome... Just not the normal everywhere national chains (applebees, chilis, mcdonalds, BK, ect). Want to eat some more local food in places that I don't leave the airport (like DFW, ORD, CLT) and would love recommendations so I don't waste a trip on an awful place...

The MIA International Hotel is located within the airport terminal. It has a restaurant on the top floor that is quite decent.
A number of people have recommended the Mexican restaurant in Terminal 4 at PHX, although I personally have not eaten there.

Legal Seafoods in BOS and DCA.
Also, in addition to Pappadeaux in IAH, I would try Pappasito's Cantina for something quick or if you have a hankering for Mexican food.

....Additionally there is a cuban restaurant near that hotel in MIA which is excellent; it is a bit like a cafeteria, but the food is exceptional.

Believe it or not, fantastic seafood chowder at the little snack bar/restaurant near the UA gates in EUG.

One of the best burgers I've ever had was in a Wolfgang Puck rest. in the new Delta terminal at BOS (I could have the terminal wrong - I do know it's before security).

KIX (Osaka-Kansai) is number one in my books if the Nikko aiport hotel restos (Kobe beef surf'n'turf, yum) are included. Otherwise ICN (Seoul-Incheon): Not for the boring generic coffeeshops, but the excellent Walker Hill-operated Korean restaurants and the lunch buffet at "8" in the Hyatt Regency.

Paschals at ATL for good, quick soul food. Concourse A (quick-service), Concourse C (w/bar), and the Atrium outside secruity.

The sushi place in the G (UA side of international) concourse at SFO. Can't remember what it's called, but it's very good!
