I personally booked a flight that connects through Atlanta during the NCAA basketball finals. During the finals weekend, all the flights to Atlanta looks pretty full. I bet when final four comes around, people will be rushing to buy the last remaining tickets!

X-atl-BWI/IAD/DCA in K fare is around $200

as someone who has been to a dozen final fours, I can tell you that the only rush is Tuesday morning out of the host city. the rush in is pretty spread out; then on the rush out; you'd have to be going to a city where one of the teams is from or a hub; and if this year is ATL, then you are starting in a hub therefore I'd say your odds are little lower of getting a bump

And don't count on it; a few years ago I and a friend saw a $98 r/t fare from Washington to Indianapolis, and when we realized it was available for Memorial Day weekend we jumped on it, figuring the day before and the day after the Indy 500 would be great opportunities to get bumped. Not only didn't we get bumped, there were several empty seats on the flights in and out.

I was wondering the same thing since my DL flight MSP-ATL on 30 March is only selling on Y seat right now (and I am going to the Final Four!). I knew my return on Tuesday from ATL to MSP via AMS would not be a good bump opportunity but I am making that part into a MR :) . Two hours in AMS then back to MSP.

If you look at the capacity on that weekend. Major Hub to Atlanta is booked solid. DTW-ATL, ORD-ATL, DFW-ATL
Most folks needs to make a connection in these cities in order to get to Atlanta.

As this is not about a particular MR deal, I'm going to move it to the discussion forum.

It all comes down to luck, I think -- given that an FTer got bumped four times in a row at IND last Memorial Day weekend:
