I'd like to know what current prices are at average (not extravagant) restaurants nowadays. I know the exchange rate is still about 1:3, but if you're spending pesos but thinking in dollars is eating out still as much of a bargain as it was shortly after the crash?

Having just come back from there a few days ago I found the food to be very reasonable and of excellent quality. I think you can eat comfortably for around 30-60 pesos. I highly recommend Cabaņa las Lilas steakhouse for a great steak. Roughly around 90-110 pesos.
I guess the answer is... it depends.
We went out with groups and meals cost anything from $50 USD per person to as little as $7. per person. With wine. Abundant wine.

We were in Buenos Aires about four months ago, and it was an absolute bargain. We were eating in the top restaurants in town and having full meals (baby beef for two, veggies, appetizers, desserts, coffee, tea and a bottle of wine) for around $80.

Modest (decent) restaurants (nothing famous) with a simple parrilla for 2, or 2 steaks and salad with a nice malbec, and maybe a shared dessert will run you about US$30 - and you will be very satisfied. Of course you can spend more, or less.
I would concur with all the above.
In BA you can pay extravagant prices in the "trendy" restaurants to bargain basement prices in the "local" ones.
Most of my dining is done out of the capital where I have noticed yearly prices have gone up on average about 10% since the change.

All the above is excellent advice, my only comment being that I would not have Cabaņa Las Lilas at the top of my recommendation list. Its hugely overpriced for EZE standards and food & service is nothing special.

I can see where your coming from about the service but overall we thought the food was excellent.

One other thing I would add is that the best possible bargains in terms of food can be found at the highest end of the market. For example, a 7-8 course fine dining tasting menu can be had at Nectarine Restaurant for approx. AR$150 (no wines included). A similar meal in the USA would run you the same amount, but in US Dollars.
