I think that all items are not cheap at the airport. I know, that electronic items at FRA airport are very expensive.

You can, however, easily claim a VAT-refund on anything that you take with you outside of the EU. Just ask for the "tax-free" forms when paying, and then have them stamped by customs at the airport as you leave. You can claim your refund at the refund booths.

At least for the poor guys earning their living in US$ nothing is cheap in the Euro Zone with the Bush-Peso at 0,75 Euro.
