Hello. I was wondering if there is any airline that flys this route. I am headed south upon arrival in England and it would be much nicer to arrive at Gatwick instead of Heathrow. I tried to find a site that would tell me the information but to no avail. Thank you for any info.

Germanwings (http://www.germanwings.com) flies twice a day. Once in the early morning and once in the late afternoon/early evening...
by the way: I found this information on the website of Hamburg Airport which is pretty convenient
Have a safe flight...

This sucks bigtime for me. Try to book anything in 2008 on that route. It does not work. The only cheapo option remaining is RyanAIr (ugh) from Luebeck (ugh ugh) to Stansted (triple ugh).

Luebeck (ugh ugh) .
Oi! You're insulting one of the prettiest towns in Northern Germany!
Shame about the discontinued service, though. I just hope this won't entice LH to increase fares on the HAM-LCY route.

I doubt that. More probably, Germanwings will just switch the airport in London. It was the only flight they had into Gatwick anyway.
Why do you guys want to fly into Gatwick? For a connection or to get into the city?

That was only a question of time. There is simply not enough demand for 12 flights per day. But there are still 10 flights left:
4 x LHR with BA
3 x LHR with LH
2 x LCY with LH
1 x LUT with Easyjet
+ Ryanair from Luebeck

So there will be no flight out of HAM to London at all on Germanwings? Quite surprising, I would have thought they are more competitive!

No - they cancelled both flights. Competitive? Yes, more or less. But Itīs almost never a problem to get reasonable fares from HAM to LON, even on short notice. Iīve never flown 4U to Gatwick (I prefer LHR or LCY) so I donīt know if they were well booked - but as LH became more and more dominant in HAM in the last 2 years (many new nonstop-routes) it may be as well a "political" move for 4U to step back a little and concentrate on pure touristic routes (maybe LH hopes to attract more pax for the HAM-LCY flights now, wich are not well booked). AFAIK HAM-MUC and HAM-VNU (new LH HAM-SVO service) will be reduced or cancelled by 4U as well.

Well, HAM to MUC was always knows as a race track and I think it's one of the most popular domestic LH routes. Germanwings became quite expensive in my eyes. The last few trips that I had checked on where 4U was a possibility, they were at least as expensive as any competitor.
All this reducing and canceling is definitely a political move!

Youīre right. Prices for domestic flights raised up in general in the last few months. It lookīs like the big 4 in the domestic market (Air Berlin, Germanwings, TUI and Lufthansa) have made some kind of gentlemen agreement (with the potential railway-strike in mind) to earn some more money in this years december-peak-season - at least for bookings made 2 to 3 weeks in advance, prices are more or less the same, no matter what airline youīre looking at.

Looks like LCY flights to HAM are also now gone. I suspect Easy Jet starting a service from Luton might have something to do with that.
LCY was still a very convenient and civilised way to go...

They are still showing on lufthansa.com (right up to April - I didn't look further). Where did you look?
Not sure about LCY being convenient and civilised any more... it's getting too crowded! Last time I was there it was standing room only in the departure area (despite the fact that the seats are now packed very close together), and we were delayed on the return as there was nowhere to park us.

Easy Jet had a promotion team at HAM Terminal 2 today. I didn't check what they wanted as I don't care for Easy Jet but they were all over the place.
Also, the Germanwings flight at night to Gatwick seemed to be pretty packed!
