is there anyway to book a multicity ticket on expedia with more than 5 cities?

Sure, just pick routes that are not served by nonstops. For example, if I book STL-DTW-LIT-DTW-STL on AA, I will actually get STL-ORD-DTW-ORD-LIT-ORD-DTW-ORD-STL, 8 cities total.

unfortunately i can't seem to get this to work because each of my legs is serviced by nonstop routes to other destinations along my routing and it will not give me the option to choose an indirect flight. my routing is lga/bos/iad/pit/iad/bos/lga.

I personally wouldn't book an MR on Expedia; I would use the airline's website or call the CS center. Sometimes the website will lock you out after a number of segments.

I've done it on Orbitz before and they'll give you pretty much every permutation if you key it all in. The problem is that the resulting webpage is severla MB of text and browsers can have trouble rendering it. $5 to Orbitz or similiar is $5 less than what I get charged if I call the airline and it takes far less time.
