Leaving for Rome In 2 weeks will spend a 3 days in Florence solo then hook up with friends in Rome for the rest of the trip. Early to mid March.

Some questions?advice

Suggestions for attire? Footwear?

Weather - early to mid March?

Florence - solos female: what can I do at night safely/where to go at night

Best Italian shopping buys

Security - best moneybelt to avoid pickpocketters

What I don't want to miss in Florence.(only there Fri, Sat, Sun)

If you haven't already done so, pick up Rick Steves' book on Italy. I find his recommendations on what to see and do worthwhile, even though IMO his accommodation suggestions are on the cheap side and potentially overcrowded with Americans who read his books. In Florence, we lucked out by seeing the Uffizi (absolutely must see) in the evening without any waiting (thanks to Rick's book) although March should be less hectic than June when I was there. Make sure you allow time to wander in the center of town without necessarily having a specific destination. Great food, interesting wine bars. (If you don't speak Italian, pick something like Fodor's Italian for travelers. At a mininum it can help you decipher menus!)

Perhaps looking answers to your own prior/duplicate post would help?
