I plan to go later this year, probably November. LanArgentina tells me they'll probably resume service, and have proposed flight times scheduled, but aren't taking any reservations. Does anyone have a feel for the likelihood of that service actually resuming? In theory, I can add it on to an AA reward ticket to BA, but "theory" and "reality" doesn't always agree.

The only other option would seem to be Aerolineas. I'm assuming they're still charging foreigners a surcharge. No reliable way to beat that, right?

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

LAN is still looking to plan its 2007 operations.... the flight to Salta is also still "up in the air". They have the route approved by the regulators, but still havent brought over the new planes needed to serve these routes, since they are still negotiating with the government how much they will be able to increase fares.

I suggest you book AR and play the wait & see game with LAN. If you are lucky, you will be able to roll your AR reservation a couple of times before you actually have to issue the tickets.

Is there a way to "roll over" AR flights from the US? How long can you hold the rez? Thanks!

The only way I know to do this is through a TA, else you have to let your reservation expire and then proceed to book again, but thats almost like not booking at all.
