Anyone know whether and where the Super Bowl will be shown live in Frankfurt? Also, will they have a feed that has the commercials that are shown in the states?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry I am not familiar with the Super Bowl but who shows it in the US? There are plenty of American TV stations available in Germany so if you tell me which station it shows in the US, I might be able to tell you whether you are able to get it or not...

The Super Bowl will be broadcast by CBS, but not sure that means anything internationally.

Looks like in 2003 at least it was broadcast by Premiere World, SAT 1. Any way to check their listings for Feb 4? Also, the Armed Forces TV network will carry it, know of anywhere to get that?

This year the super bowl will be broadcasted by ARD, to be found on every TV set in Germany. But it's highly unlikely that they show the commercials.

February 4th is a Sunday. Sundays are always commercial free on German public TV like ARD and ZDF. So no commercials anyway and for a 100% sure not the american commercials!!!!

PCTraveller where are you staying that night? I a hotel? With friends in their private home? In a bar? It might be a little late in Germany when it's the evening of the 4th in the USA? (at least 6 hour timeshift)

From NFL.com:

"Super Bowl XLI will air on two terrestrial networks in Germany with a live broadcast on ARD and a delayed broadcast on the sports station, DSF."

Thanks for the input. I will be staying in a hotel, so will be able to catch it in my room. Is anyone aware of any expat bars that might be open and showing the game? I realize kickoff is 12:30am Monday morning on 5 Feb.

The expat bars in LA stay open late/open early for the big European football matches so I thought I'd ask.

It's a night from a Sunday to Monday. I am not too familiar with FRA but in general places should be closed at that time unless you find a place where many Americans hang out. Maybe nearby the Ramstein Air Base or of the other ones... It shouldn't be too hard to find some American Soldiers in that area... If it's a good hotel, they might be able to give you advice...

Best American sports bar in Frankfurt is Champions at the Marriott hotel. You'll find lots of ex-pats there watching the game!

A few years ago (whichever year the Falcons were in the SB) I watched the game in my room at the LHR Marriott. They took the US video feed but used a team of UK-based on-air announcers, which made the game more hilarious than usual.

A few days before, I had been in Copenhagen, and the cab driver who brought in from the airport was very excited about the game - it seem that Morten Anderson's presence on the team had prompted such interest, that Danish Television was going to show the game live.

Similar experience a few years ago. Absolutely hilarious!!! It begins with the Brit broadcasters' understandable difficulties in referring to the game as "football" & just snowballs from there, with waay to much English charm and poise for the sport.
In fact, if the OP can find a "british" hotel chain that might be carrying it, it will be worth the effort.

There will be a SuperBowl Party in the Jahrhunderthalle in Hoechst. Tickets can be purchased for 16,50 € here: http://www.frankfurt-galaxy.de/HTMLNEU/tickets/tickets_online.shtml
It says that there will be a party with music beforehand (doors open at 21:15) the game will then be broadcast live starting at 00:30 on a huge screen.

There is ample parking in Hoechst, there is however also public transportation via the S-Bahn from downtown Frankfurt (lines S1 and S2). Infos on how to get to the Jahrhunderthalle can be found here (unfortunately only in German)

Hope this helps!
