We are flying to Scotland via Frankfurt and have a layover in early May for one evening. Does anyone have a suggestion for a nice dinner and walk? It doesn't have to be in Frankfurt proper. If there is a delightful town a train ride away from the Airport that would be great!. We are looking for something like Union Street or Chestnut Street in San Francisco. Any suggestions?

Doing a search for "frankfurt" will produce many previous threads on this topic that provide great information. A quick summary is:

the train station right at FRA provides easy access to downtown Frankfurt, from the station it is a 10-15 minute stroll to the middle of what passes for "old" Frankfurt where you will find many restaurants, etc.

or, you can go in the other direction to either Mainz or Wiesbaden, which are old cities not much damaged in the war. Both have nice town squares/shopping districts that are easy to reach from the train, especially if you like to stroll around. Both offer many excellent choices for meals. I'm Wiesbaden all the time, if you want specific information PM me.
