View Full Version : FCO (Rome) Terminal A to B Transfer Question

I shall be arriving FCO Terminal A (AP) connecting to a flight leaving from Terminal B. I have about 1 hour and 05 minutes. I found this flight on Expedia and presumably a valid/legal connection.

The airport web site suggested a free inter-terminal shuttle that runs every 20 minutes. It appears that the stop is located at the departure level but the site is not very clear.

Can I walk from Terminal A to B if I just miss the train and do not want to wait 20 minutes? (Waiting 20 minutes will be very tight in my case.) Where is the shuttle stop? Is it at the arrival or departure level?

Many thanks in advance.

It is less than a 5 minute walk from terminal A to B.

Resurrecting this old thread as I have a similar (tight) connection tomorrow - on separate tickets.

Are Terminal A and B at FCO connected airside? Or do I have to do the landside shuffle - I'd rather not?

If they are connected airside is there a security or document checkpoint on the way which could bring problems? I do have a printed online boarding pass for my AY flight but according to the AY web site this is not accepted by the "airport authorities" - I guess boarding it would be no problem but any document check is likely to not to work.

Yes, they're connected airside. In fact it's almost as if it were two parts of a single building. As far as I can remember, when you come from the gate and follow the signs to "Transiti" instead of exiting landside, there's a hand luggage security check where you show your BP, but there's no passport/ID document check as Terminal B is for Schengen flights. (The passport check is when you walk from B to C.)

I can't see why you'd have any problems if you showed your online-printed BP to the staff at the security checkpoint as justification of you wanting to go through to terminal B airside. Probably worth printing your itinerary too.

For example the same issue would arise with BA (checkin online and print your own BP) who I use regularly, and I've never encountered any issues with using those (although I'm not sure I've ever done so in transit through Italy).

In any case, if you went landside and had to get a "proper" BP from the AY checkin desk, you'd probably miss the connection anyway...
