Will be on Oahu for the holidays, leaving tomorrow. At this last minute, Mr Fish has decided that he might like to fly all 7 of us over to KOA for the boys to see the volcano (and a change of scenery). I did some quick checking, found great fares and avail at the Sheraton, but cannot find a single rental car for the dates he prefers.

Looking at flying HNL-KOA 12/25 evening and back 12/27 morning. We only REALLY need a car (or 2 if small) for the day on 12/26. You guys have ANY ideas on any out of the way/ off the internet/ backyard-but-reliable rental places?

Our alternative is to fly over 12/23 for one night, but its not really likely. Seems a shame, we will have the empty house and 2 idle cars up in Haleiwa, but can't find anything to take us around Hawaii.

BUT, have you tried rentals in Hilo rather than KOA? If you're just going to see the Volcano, you're far far better off flying into ITO. You'll save yourself at least an hour drive around.

Sorry I can't offer any other ideas for a rental.

Thanks :) . Looked into ITO, but nothing there either. We are willing to fly into whichever airport has a car, but if we don't get one, we would need to do KOA so we could get to the hotel (and just get the car for the day). Thanks for the suggestion though!
