I will be in singapore for the first time and I will be by myself.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to where to eat. Nothing formal, and I am open to any cuisine.
Thanks for any advice!

brewerkz.com comes to mind and its partner Cafe.
Inside food courts on Scotts Rd same side as Hyatt and Marriott.
Hawker Centers located around the City.

Do a food search and I am sure you will find many more places

Lau Pa Sat food centre, or for that matter just about any food centre in Singapore. Also try the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel.

I loved Singapore! Have a great time.

The food courts are great, but the problem I can see is that a lot of dishes take a little while to prepare and they might want to bring it to your table.

Probably best if you want to dine there to avoid the busiest periods so you can get a table near the stall(s) you're interested in.

Where are you staying? Is breakfast included in you hotel's rate?

Do you just want to eat and get on with it or are you hoping to do a bit of socializing? (When I read "singles", I think socializing.)

I too like Brewerkz--I have been there by myself and with the family. The Food Republic a relatively new place on Orchard Road is a great place with reasonable prices. Any of the Hawker Stalls or Food Courts give good food for reasonable prices. You will not have any problems finding a place you are comfortable

Another vote for the hawker stands! They're good with groups or individuals, IME. They also have some of the best food Singapore has to offer (IMO)!
