I was looking at a receipt for items purchased at a HNL convenience store next to Gate 12 which says, "Thank you from our blind vendors."
Curious, is that particular store really run by blind vendors? The receipt dates back to Sept. so I can't remember.

As I recall, there are two registers there. The one nearest the entrance is usually staffed by a large woman in a wheel chair, while the one towards the back near the magazines is usually staffed by a slight man who is blind, or least sight impaired. He seems to recognize that someone is in front of him and may be able to receive things handed to him, but in other ways you can tell that he has a difficult time with vision. Last time I was there was on Thanksgiving Day, heading back to Japan. I joked with both of them and commented about how hard it must be to work on a holiday, but they both said that they would rather be there working, plus they were getting double time. I've seen them for the last few to several years on my way through HNL.

Thanks! I remember purchasing something from the lady in the wheelchair. I think it's great that they like working in that store. Plus, great location too, right after security.
