View Full Version : Missing miles- Sorry.....

I flew BMI from DUB>LHR RT in April of this year. I gave the check in agent for BMI my DM number at both Dublin and Heathrow and they both assured me it was in the record. After 3 months of the miles not posting, I realized they never would. This summer I moved back to the US from Ireland. I knew that I had my receipt and boarding passes packed away somewhere. I finally found them in September and remember being in a hurry to get them to US Air before the 6 month cutoff for partner flight credit (stupidly, I sent them regular mail- I should have sent them registered).

So last month I was calculating my preferred miles for the year- I was barely Gold at the time. But, with the mileage run that I am doing this week and the previous travel over the past 2 weeks, I will be at 74040 PQMs. That is when I realized that the miles for the BMI flight never posted. I decided to call the Gold line to inquire about the miles. I got a wonderfully incompetent and incoherent agent who argued with me and said that they never received my boarding passes and receipt, that BMI wasn't a partner, etc.(I posted this whole thing in another thread previously- she even went so far as to laugh at me when I told her that those missing miles would keep me from getting Platinum).

I sent a complaint via the website regarding this about 2 weeks ago and have yet to receive a response. Ironically, I received 2 letters from US Air today- one on regular DM letterhead, the other on preferred DM letterhead. Both letters are exactly the same....both say that they received the boarding passes and receipts AFTER the 6 month period and therefore I won't be receiving the mileage credit. Funny how I sent them 3 months ago, then a couple weeks ago they still hadn't received them- I complain and now they have suddenly received them, but they are too late. Something sounds a bit fishy to me.

So, my only real recourse is to try to convince my wife to let me go to Vegas to see a friend from Ireland the last week of the year, or else I will have to buy some FTD stuff and be known as a Platinum-lite, even though I had enough BIS miles to qualify. I have been at various preferred levels with US over the past 7 years....and each year the wife tries to get me to switch allegiance. Maybe this is the year.

I'd give it one more call. Hopefully you get someone competent that you can explain everything too... Worth the 5 min effort if you can possibly avoid a MR.

Hmmmm.....a call for 1000 miles or a trip w/o the wife and kids to Vegas....

What a decision! I will try calling again this week, but I may be doing the Vegas trip anyway!
