I just got an email from US reminding me that I could nominate someone to Silver. I want to nominate my wife, and I am trying to figure out if there is any reason to wait until 07. I don't want to nominate her now if they are only going to make her Silver through Feb 07 - but I don't know if nominating her in Jan or Feb of 07 would make any difference.

Other problem is that I will plummet from CP down to Gold in March (unless the DM gods decide to spare me - fat chance!), so I won't be able to nominate after that.

You and I have a very similar situation. I am dropping to gold from CP, also, after being CP for many years (unless the gods are good to me) and I just nominated my grandson, who is three years old, to silver. The CP rep told me that he would be silver for at least a year from date of nomination and maybe even until Feb 2008. What was very cool was he travelled back on US from RSW with his dad during T Day weekend and because he was silver he got both :) his dad and him up to first. His dad was amazed as he is 1K with united and did not expect it at all.

I nominated my Grandmother to Silver back in September. She recently received her card and it is valid until 2/29/08.

I also got this e-mail today and so did a friend of mine. While I've already requalified for CP for '07, he has not. He will, but hasn't yet. Odd that we're both receiving this at this point in the year.

Anyone else receive this e-mail in the past day or two?

dukeman, had you already re-qualified for CP for next year when you submitted it or were you working off the status you earned in '05 for the current year?

I requalified for CP back in July and received a letter from the DMSC in September inviting me to nominate someone. I have since hit 125K and 150K but haven't received any additional nomination forms, nor did I receive the email mentioned above.

thanks for the quick feedback. Looks like I probably have nothing to lose by going ahead and nominating her, and if I get lucky, it might even be good til 2/08.

I’m currently CP but will drop to “dirt” next year as I’ve moved all my flights to UA. I’ve credited exactly 60 miles to my DM account this year through a car rental partner credit just to keep my account from expiring.

I just received the following e-mail from DM:

Subject: It's time to nominate a friend to Preferred!

Dear PGF

Dividend Miles #: A123B45

Don’t be surprised if you suddenly have a lot of “new best friends”

The Chairman’s Preferred Nominate-a-Friend Program As a Chairman’s Preferred member, you can nominate someone to Silver Preferred status…a fact you may want to keep to yourself. Otherwise, people may inexplicably start taking you to lunch. Calling you out of the blue. Getting you coffee. Washing your car.

To submit a nomination, just email your nomination request to xxxxxx@usairways.com with the following information:

*Your full name and account number
*The name and Dividend Miles account number of the person you wish to nominate
*If you don’t know their account number, please include their full name and address and request that they be enrolled into the Dividend Miles program
*Enter the code “XXXX” in the subject line so your request can be identified

All requests will be processed on a first come, first served basis. If your request is missing any of the required information, processing may be delayed and additional correspondence required.

Have too many friends and just can’t decide who to nominate? For every additional 25,000 miles or 30 segments you fly over and above the 100,000 miles and 120 segments needed to qualify for Chairman’s status, you are eligible to nominate someone else for Silver Preferred status.

Sincerely,
John Reistrup

Program rules: The Chairman’s Nominate a Friend program allows a Chairman’s Preferred member, under some circumstances, to nominate someone for Silver Preferred status. The program does not give a member authority to appoint, give, sell, or do anything but nominate another individual for membership. Accordingly, US Airways retains the right to reject a nomination, just as it retains the right to terminate a member from its Dividend Miles program at any time. Therefore, a Chairman’s Preferred member does not own and may not sell a membership he or she personally uses, or membership through the Nominate-a-Friend program. US Airways will not honor any membership obtained through a reported purchase, and will take appropriate legal action to ensure that further attempts to sell memberships cease. In order to be eligible for additional nominations in the same program year, you must travel 125,000 miles or 150 segments within in the same calendar year.

You are receiving this e-mail because you have qualified for this benefit. This e-mail was sent to PGF@xxxxxx

Since I haven’t flown with US at all this year I’m really wondering how it is that “you have qualified for this benefit.” I’m also wondering if I can take advantage of it?

Wanted to give this thread a friendly bump. I sent an email to the CP desk which was forwarded to the DMSC. I was inquiring about my additional nominations to Silver for hitting 125 and 150K in 2006. I explained that I had received a letter from the DMSC in September or October allowing me to nominate someone which I did. I received a response in 2 days^ from an agent advising me that I actually had 5 remaining nominations! She said that hard copy was mailed to me in February and also May and the email in December. I replied that the only mailing I had received was in September. The same agent replied that there had been some troubles integrating the systems and apologized. Any CPs out there that didn't nominate someone from 2005 or who went above 125 or 150K in either year you probably have some nominations left. The only way I can come up with 6 nominations are for going over 150K last year and again this year. Now to find 5 people to nominate....;)

My son could use a nomination, he was silver for 06 but with school wasn't able to requalify for 07, if you feel in the giving mood.

I nominated my wife in December and they made her Silver through Feb 08. Took a week or two after I emailed the CP desk.

I've seen people selling the UA equivalent of this on ebay for $100-$150.

I ended 06 3,000 miles short and will have no status. Had to do too much "spreading it around" this year. :(

don't bother with waiting for a form, just do this.

Send an email to the CP desk with "CNOM" in the subject and the following text

"I would like to nominate John Doe (insert John's FF#) for Silver Status.

thanks

dukeman, thanks so much for the heads-up! I also received 2-day turnaround email service ^ , and I'm slightly shocked at the reply just received...

<< Your account reflects six open Chairman's Nominate-A-Friend forms available at this time. The member nominated would receive Silver preferred status for this program year ending 2/29/08. >>

Oh my, I never knew :) One more benefit of reading FT, I guess. I'm sure I won't have trouble finding enough friends :D

2Days.. wow, I think I've been on hold with the refund desk that long!
Anyhow.. how many nominations does one get per year as a CP? I presumed it was one, but besides my fiance's dad, I think my parents might be up for a few trips this year, so it couldn't hurt to nominate them!

How many miles did you fly?

I normally average more than 150k BIS Miles on US/*A each year. 2005 had extra miles because of rollover.

As far as I know, Alphaguy, one CP Silver nomination at 100k, another at 125k, yet one more at 150k, etc

That is correct, but they also counted 2005. According the DMSC rep I corresponded with they supposedly sent out letters last Spring, but I never received them. She admitted there were some problems with the mailings. So, I had 3 from 2005 (for over 150K) and 3 for this year (over 150K).
