To Mr Christ or whomever is responsible for skd so many island flights on Sa & SU night to connect to the same bank. IT DOES NOT WORK. Some one really needs to wake up.
The worst bank is the 1900 bank. Due to to many inbd flts from the islands to connect to the same bank we miss more bags than I would care to talk about here. Lets just say tonight & last night a cluster (you know what).
Whomever is responsible for this mess shouldn't be working. It needs to be corrected NOW.
To all our customers, thanks for flying & enjoy your vacations but I would strongly sugguest you not carry luggage or try to book your flight to the last bank if you get in earlier.

I am going to assume you are talking about CLT?
I've never had a Caribbean problem going via CLT, however I am now seeing that the earliest ORD-CLT is at as 7:45AM, which does not feed a few Carib flights. I remember 2003/2004 times wehn the ORD-CLT departed at or around 5:45AM/6:00AM. Much more Carib connection back then with the earlier flight.

MY 1,000TH POST! WAHOO!

You are correct I am speaking of CLT. The problem isn't connecting luggage going down it is on the return when the luggage has go through FIS & TSA. There are far to many flights & trying to connect to same bank doesn;t work. We do not get the luggage untill or AFTER the flts skd dept time. As a result the luggage doesn't make it.

Coach, it's all about aircraft utilization. Having the flights go down and back to the Carib. during the day then out West and back overnight keeps them in the sky - which is how they make their money.

Unfortunately US is a business and therefore tries (and is sometimes successful) making money.

Does the early evening bank sometimes get overloaded? Yup.

Is the same not true with, oh, let's say FRA in the mornings when all the inbound North American flights arrive. Or, ORD in the afternoon when the flights from Europe come back.

What I'm saying is, is that this problem isn't unique to US or CLT.

Could they handle the problem better? Sure. It is US after all.

Just my 2 cents.

UA and AA seem to manage big waves of FIS re-checked bags at ORD, DFW, IAD, BOS, MIA, JFK, as a matter of course.

Aircraft utilization, I understand, but consistently failing on a particular peak set of bags is airline and airport specific, it would seem. Lost (ahem, "mis-handled") homeward-bound luggage seems especially dangerous from a marketing point of view as that's the last memory of a vacation, and the one likely to stick when booking the next vacation..
