Anyone use Rimowa luggage? After a year with a TravelPro that's already been broken four times, I'm looking to upgrade. Rimowa was recommended by two luggage specialists (including one whose store didn't even sell the brand, but he still recommended it). I'm also considering Briggs and Riley, but nothing they have is as lightweight as Rimowa.

I use an aluminum rimowa (topas) that was a damaged return at a travel store I used to work at. It's older than the 5-year warranty and kind of banged up, but it looks cool and it's functional. It's over $900 new though which is pretty insane. It's the carry-on size.

Their salsa line is more affordable, which are polycarbonate. You can jump up and down on them and they won't break. A 29" is probably $500, but I imagine you're a big traveler. I doubt you'll find a lighter, as sturdy suit case.

I'm looking at the 26 or 29 Tango or Salsa, multi-wheel. Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on these? Is the Tango much better, it's about twice the price? Should I go with the 26 or 29 to use as my exclusive "check" bag? Will the 29 cause me to go over 50 lbs?

Delsey 350..its about the same weight as the Rimowa but a lot less expensive. I've been using it for years and love it. The only problem with most of the poly luggage is that it has zippers. This is to keep the weight down. If the bag is picked up by the side handle, the zipper will usually separate. I deal with this by placing straps around it in both directions. I believe Titan makes a poly line with the metal band around it with snap closures but that will bring the weight back up.

Wow, I was surprised to see this thread pop up after so long.

I bought the 29" salsa (http://www.luggageonline.com/product.cfm?product_ID=4520)in red and really like it. True to their claim, it seems to be nearly indestructable. The only issue is that it doesn't expand - which I knew before buying it, but sometimes I really miss those couple of extra inches of space.

Will the 29 cause me to go over 50 lbs?
It's only about 7 pounds empty, so weight should not be a problem, but of course that depends on how much and what you jam into it. I've been over 50 a couple of times when I've had bottles of wine and/or olive oil that added weight.

I have a Rimowa Topas-Series Jumbo Trolley for two years now and I love it. Never had such a reliable suite case ^ . Topas is the classic aluminium series from Rimowa and it comes with to wheels to pull the suite case behind you or with four wheels to roll it upright next to you. Only trade off is the price. You have to take a big breath when you see the price tag but on the other hand I think this suite case will last a life time.

I've got a 80 cm (can't deal with those '' measures, sorry) Rimowa trolley that weighs 3 kgs and am happy with it. No problems so far.

I waas flying with lufthansa beginning of this month and I saw in their magazine (webshop) the special rimowa model they created for lufthansa which is a red rimowa with a white cross. unfortunately I cant manage to find it on the internet. Could someone help me with that?

I`ve bought the rimowa salsa also in red 2 weeks ago. I bought the 4 wheeler 80 cm/ 110 liter and i like it very much. In germany they tested ( you know, in germany they tested eyery thing !) different luagges, and the rimowa salsa series was/is the best in weight and quality. My rimowa made the first flights last week, and it was ok. The 80cm is very big and have enough space for mor than 25 kilo.
