I'm about 6000 miles short of SP status on US, and won't be able to travel much for the rest of the calendar year. I was wondering if buying miles off the US Airways website would count towards preferred status in 2007? Or does it just count towards a future reward? It doesn't say anything specific about this on the website. Thanks!

No, the miles you buy do not count for preferred. You would be better off buying $300 dollars worth of flowers etc from FTD. Look at this thread
