This is just a friendly reminder from kinglobjaw.com just clicK that the bank that issues the US Airways Mastercard, Juniper is now rebranded itself as BARCLAYS BANK DELAWARE. Business is as usual, but keep in mind this new change as you mail your letters.

Not a joke: http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/061208/bank_of_america_barclays.html?.v=7

Bank of America to buy Barclays (http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/061208/bank_of_america_barclays.html?.v=5) from Yahoo Business.

What will this do to US cardholders with both if not 3 cards?

Will they keep both, cut one of the cards?

I actually think it makes me happy. Then all of my banking and bill paying would go through one Bank of America site.

The systems integration relative to their MBNA buy-out has been, by all accounts, stunning in its execution. If this one happens, expect good things with the online banking front in terms of account conversion.

No, I don't work there.

Before anyone gets too excited, I've been en employee of Barclays for 3 years and have listened to at least half a dozen take over rumours. First it was Citi then JPMorgan now BofA....

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see this happen?

I've had nothing but excellent experiences with the reps at Juniper - and have always had hold times of one minute or less.

With BofA, I get employees who couldn't seem to care less and hold times in the 3-10 minute range.

I feel far more valued by Juniper. I will concede that BofA seems to have a more powerful web site and there are probably some nice benefits for those of you who have multiple accounts with BofA, but unless they adopt the Juniper customer service model, I hope this doesn't go through.

Hmmm... to me it seems there are some parallels in the BofA/Juniper buyout and the US Airways/Delta buyout discussion... ;)

I have a different BoA card that used to be an MBNA card. Phone times tend to be about average, and the conversion to BoA's system was flawless. Stunningly flawless.

...Not unless BofA agress to take the Barclay's name...

...which BTW, how's the BofA name going to go over in Europe?:

Barclays, the United Kingdom's third-largest bank by market capitalization, would give Bank of America a significant international presence as well as a major U.K. retail and commercial bank and the U.K.'s biggest credit-card business, Najarian wrote.

You're not alone. If this occurred, all of my cards (save my Amex and my corporate card) would be from the same company, issued by banks BofA acquired over the years thru mergers and what-not...

Here's one account to the contrary then. Took quite a while to set two online accounts up, only to have them disabled without explanation. They're set up again, but the experience was anything but stunning.

If BoA and Juniper/Barclays tie the knot, they may be a Charlotte-Wilmington,DE service... no? Other than that I would hope this transaction were to go through as I like both companies a lot now.

Sorry to hear about that.

I'm talking about the conversion as a whole, which has been noted in the industry as a best-in-class example of how this sort of thing should be done. For the most part, the integration was immacculate. Yet, as with all conversions, and as you experienced first-hand, there are bound to be individual problems. And... I've written before in a different post about BOA's problem resolution issues... You have my sympathy.

Why would the add service to wilmington when PHL is literally 20 miles from it? Talk about a waste...

Good point. But still, it could work!

Simply put, no, it wouldn't. The overhead of adding a new station, plus the location of the airport relative to PHL (and it's inherent traffic problems) drives costs into the stratosphere. Add that an inability to get a significant fare premium due to proximity and the reality that you get flights to only one hub and it's a non-starter.

Wilmington, DE doesn't have an airport. The closest thing is New Castle County airport which only very recently started offering commercial flights and that's just two flights per day to Atlanta.

In all fairness, ILG is essentially Wilmington, DE at 7nm east of the city.

As a side note, PHL is considered to be 20nm NE - Pointless.

If BOA/Juniper insisted I guess it would something similar to the AA RDU-LGW service. If we do however merge w/ Delta, we don't need starting a new station as it aleady exists. Additional planes would be freed up from the synergies. That said, I really hope the US/DL doesnt actually happen.

Apples - Oranges. I don't see any AA hub less than 20 miles from RDU, but perhaps I'm just geographically challenged. In a DL acquisition, look for ILG to be terminated.

DL is boasting itself as the only airline that flies to the 50 United States. That title can be serious "bling-bling" which I am sure no one will be willing to let go of. By the way, how are DL ILG loads doing, anyone know?

I think Doug and crew have shown they're not after that kind of "bragging right". Especially not at a cost to the bottom line in a low margin business.
