Singapore awarded its second casino resort contract to Genting International, whose US$3.38 billion proposal promises to lure thousands of visitors with a Universal Studios theme park and a huge outdoor marine park.

Universal Studios will be in charge of the design of the theme park's area, while a core six-man team from Michael Graves & Associates will look into the design of the casino area which is expected to be enclosed with no natural light for a "discreet" yet "open" design.

Yes. Planned to open in 2010.

Great news, because right now Sentosa is quite pathetic. Hope Universal isn't going to create the park on the cheap like Disney did in Hong Kong.

Surely they will not repeat that mistake!:(

It will be interesting to see how a Universal Studio theme park can fit into a location as small as Sentosa.
I read somewhere it is touted to be bigger than the one in Hollywood.
Anyway Sentosa has improved since the days of Volcano Land and Sunset Bay.
Enjoyed a bit of R n R at Cafe De La Mar the other day..although it can't be the original one of course...
