I am Just curious to see how many ffs actually moved up one (or two?) tiers thanks to the Everything Counts or Double Miles on Select Routes promos.

I'm so close to Plat now that I'll likely buy some flowers to make it, since it's unlikely that I have to (or want to) fly anywhere this month and reach it the flying way. So for me: Up one tier.^

I moved up from SP to GP by buying some flowers, which gave me just enough to get over the last 1000 miles. A cheap ticket to LGW got me the other 9000 miles I needed. :)

Moved from gold to platinum, and soon CP. For some reason however, I am still gold while my account indicates that I have 94K miles counting toward preferred. I will wait a few days to see if they straighten it out as I am not travelling and is of no consequence.

Yes. Plat to CP (soon).

I went from barely making GP this year to easily making Platinum without having to do anything extra.

Maintained silver, but without the "Everything Counts Promo" I wouldn't have had a shot - luckily, more travel next year! ^

The promo didn't really help me much at all....well, let me rephrase that. I didn't take advantage of it because painfully qualified for CP on segments and and down the East coast.

I didn't do the math, but it seems to me that one would have to spend quite a lot on flowers to move up. What were some of the actual costs / benefits?

I should hit gold next week. Hotel miles will get me there, plus 2 long distance business trips this week and next (PIT/LAX, PIT/PHL/MSP).

I was just shy (1500 miles) of gold this year, and bought a gift basket for my department secretaries through FTD (with free shipping) to get the bump. The double EQM promotion would have been great, too, but I just had my 2nd kid at the end of July, so a MR seemed a little harder than usual ;) . The miles haven't posted yet, but I'm hoping to see them soon.

All in all, I went from gold to CP for under 2K in FTD flowers/gifts. Had 70K total miles for year but was not doing any more planned travel. Turns out this was much cheaper than a mileage run(s) for 30k miles.

Until there's another tier added for hitting 150K EQMs for the year, I'm stuck with CP.

I am going to order $950 at FTD today to go from Gold to Platinum.
However, I'm on the fence about deciding to go to CP for another $1250, not sure it's worth it.

Had a lot of 4Q travel cancelled, so I spent roughly $500 to attain US4 - hopefully I get some upgrades next year.

I most likely would have been close to SP anyway with the general travel I was scheduled for.

The double PQM promo prompted me to do a couple short (but double PQM) MRs as I would now be only 12K shy of gold.

Travel (plus MC and VISA) will take me to 93,000 by the end of the year. Will be shopping tonight to get over 100k.

at 31 segments and ~18,000 preferred miles, I will not be buying up to gold this year at 20mi/dollar.

I was close to plat anyway so I spent about $80 to finish the job. Seemed like a good deal. There was no way I was going to drop the cash to go all the way to CP.

My wife went from SP to GP with the flowers -- she was about 4,000 miles from making it with BIS miles. Now I'm curious to see whether her upgrade track record will be any better. If everyone moved up a tier, it should be a wash.

SP to Gold sometime this week between this, double miles promotion, and some travel. Still doing the math (i.e., can I channel enough 'I'm doing this anyhow' purchases, or do a quick MR) to get to Platinum. CP unlikely unless I find something else 'brilliant' that works for me (mix of BIS miles and purchases)

(OT: Try the white Hydrangea Christmas arrangement from FTD - very nice change from the usual flower mixes - simple, attractive and will last a while - probably plantable too in the spring (though I'd have to research that) $39.99 - 740 miles - sent them to my aunt and cousin and saw them for myself - they and I were very pleased).

Just wondering if I can order $5000 in flowers to get to CP. Doesn't FTD give 20miles/$? If true, not a bad deal since you also get 100,000 redeemable miles in this excercize.

I will now clear SP since I just started to fly for biz a few months ago. I did not want to start flying next year with no status to start. :)

yep, you can do that. just make sure that the items you're purchasing go towards preferred status...there are a couple items that do not count.

Although I re-qualified for CP earlier than I would have otherwise, my flight activity would have put me just over the top anyway.

Had resigned myself to Platinum this year, but made CP because of Everything Counts (Xmas ordering through SkyMall and FTD). Actually got carried away and will end up with around 108,000 miles for the year!

I resigned myself to Platinum, I am going to miss CP, but did not see spending the $$$ for CP. I will hopefully not be traveling next year.. so it will be not a big factor... Also, none of these promo's affect segments.. I would have been all over double miles/double segments, but they hate segment qualifiers, except the short miles/high segments probably generate them more $$$$
