I am ticketed from LAX-LAS then a few days later onto PHL. It looks as if Iwill have to drive from LAX instead of fly. Will my return from LAS to PHL be cancelled? Can I just cancel the LAX-LAS flight? Is it better to cancel the whole thing and rebook, losing the $100 fee but able to use the remaining amount towards a new ticket?

If part of you reservation is no showed then the rest is dropped.

Call customer service and tell them your dilemma. They can cancel the first part of the trip and issue you a new record locator to keep the rest of the trip... I've done this when I've had tickets purchased personally and then work ends up flying me elsewhere or such.

They used to get mad about this - as r/t fares were a lot lower than o/w.. But now you can generally buy the trip o/w or r/t and get the same fare.

Mike

Of course they are not going to do any of this monky business over the phone, but as per the person on the mileage run, you might have been able to get some help at the airport. If you phone in to any legacy carriers reservations center they strictly go by the book. I'm not sure for the MR what you were trying to do, but you would have been better off pleading your case to somebody in person. Your chances of getting help over the phone are probably similar to you winning lottery tonight :). If you were trying to get miles for a segment not flown nobody could help you with that short of some irregular operation, but if you just wanted to start or end your trip early that is something per discretion the airport may have been able to assist you with but surely not the call center.
