I'm looking for one biz class tkt to BKK in Jan. and have never booked an Asia tkt online but am seeing some good fares on Orbitz, Asia.com, etc. There are also several Asian travel agencies over in West LA that have been mentioned to me. What is the best way to book a discounted Biz tkt and still get mileage? The airlines websites don't seem to have the less exp. tkts offered on other sites. Thanks.

Use a good TA (plenty of recommendations on this forum, do a search). OZ has fairly attractive prices via ICN, and you'll probably get lie-flat seats for the long legs, but there's a fairly long layover in Seoul both ways.
Oddly, it's cheaper to fly TG C nonstop to LAX via a nearby city like SIN, instead of booking locally :rolleyes:

What fares are you being offered? I just paid $2550 Biz Class r/t HCMC, VN to LAX, via BKK for a trip in January.
The best fare I've been able to find so far is from an agency and it's $2883 RT LAX to BKK via Tokyo-am still checking though and thanks for your replies.
That fare is for NWA and is what I booked-everything online was much higher(other than China Airlines).
