I saw a brief reference in an earlier TG forum post about how important it might be to make sure your Thai party knows to meet up at Arrival Hall C due to the crowds waiting for arriving flights.
I searched and can't find the post referenced to know why this is important.
Can someone who's arrived recently in BKK fill me in on why this might be important.
I want to be sure I hook up with my Thai friends quickly when I arrive.

It's not important, but maybe a bit less crowded, especially if you agrre to meet on the wetsern side, after the initial thronging crowd. Exit exit C, turn left, fight your way through other anxious greeters, escape to a more open area at the far western (left) end, toilets are down there too if needed!
I'll second TK's comments. Arrival gates B and C are very crowded and it could be difficult for the greetee and greetor to find each other. I've never seen either the far left or far right sections of the arrival hall crowded. I usually arrive at Gate B but tell Mrs. Soju to wait for me around Gate A where she can sit and where I can easily spot her.

I've had to meet people arriving at the new BKK quite often. It sounds as though the OP will be arriving, and that people will be waiting for him/her?
Exiting door C arriving passengers can go left (towards door 10) or right (towards door 9). It can be very congested here. Provided you know what your friends look like, or vice-versa, it still should be easy to meet up.
Arrivals are on level 2, Departures are on level 4, if facing the main passenger terminal building on level 4 there are doors numbered 1 through 10, left to right.
On level 2 (Arrivals) there are three exits within the building for passengers arriving BKK (after clearing Immigration, picking up any checked luggage and clearing Customs). The three exits are labeled A, B & C. Exit A is used to Domestic Arrivals and is to the left near doors 1 & 2, Exits B & C are used for International arrivals. Exit B is near the middle of the terminal and near doors 5 & 6, while exit C is to the far right and near doors 9 & 10 Outside of these exits are large digital displays indicating the flight details, and the exit that the passenger will likely use. Based on a few meetings it seems like a lot of the International Arrivals use exit C, but TG (Thai Airways International) seems to use exit B.
These exits are not to be confused with the labeling of the air-side passenger concourses (A, B, C, D, E, F, & G) where the fixed gates are for aircraft.

yesterday (the King's Birthday), even the far right and the far left of the arrivals hall were busy....
you might as well say meet me at the "Boots" store on Level 2 or "Starbuck" coffee on Level 3 or if you are really relaxed about time, the Sky Loft or Sky Lounge on Level 6 (if these are open now)....
