Typhoon Durian is now skirting the Vietnam coast (Dec. 5, 2006 8:20 AM Thailand time). It is heading south west with sustained winds of 120Kph and heavy rains. It is expected to continue in this direction for the next 18 hours then head due west into the Gulf of Thailand. Visitors to Koh Chang should feel the effect within the next 24 hours. Koh Samui and surrounding islands are perdicted to feel the Typhoon in 36 hours. It is expected to land in Thailand around Surat Thani, weaken somewhat then exit Thailand into the Andaman Sea around Krabi and Phuket within the next 72 hours.
