Could someone recommend me about tips of finding a good deal to south america during christmas season. I am interested in visiting ecuador and my search has led me to outrageously priced fares.... please help!!!!!!!

Hi! I've just been through the same ordeal but to EZE (buenos aires). it really depends where you are flying from. I am flying from Europe to SA in January and had to book a month ago to secure a decent price. xmas time is really just around the corner. But if you let me know where you will be flying from, I will see which internet sites could be useful...

silentninja,

welcome to FlyerTalk.

Unfortunatelly you've waited a little too long to try to book reasonably priced travel over Xmas :( Actually it's never easy to find prices for peak holidays, but waiting this long has made it almost impossible.

One thing you may try is the Travel Section in a major metropolitan daily newspaper and look for consolidator fares.

Good luck !

I am flying from Charlotte, NC. I know a waited a bit late to book a ticket but I had to make sure my visa would be processed. Any help would be appreciated in finding a damn good deal.

emailkid is right, I doubt you will find anything decent on the net. If I were you I'd start calling some agencies specializing in Latin america, many of them are based in Miami which is a big hub to SA and you will most likely fly through there.

But on a separate note: Ecuador for xmas? It's not really the right season I believe. You are better off trying to go to chile/argentina during this time. though you should know it is super high season there during 'our' winter months. Perhaps if you expanded your search to include other SA destinations, your chances will be better.

Good luck!
