I just booked a ticket to Taiwan in December.
I'm Orthodox, and am willing to eat sushi and vegan out. I'm not so worried about that, but any information would be great. I also did a search and came up with some info on the Taipei Jewish community. I'd love to spend shabbos with the Taipei community, but I was curious as to the denomination for services and the standard of kashrut within the community. Are there any Orthodox services? Any places on the cheaper side (thinking two star) within walking distance to the community?

Not familiar with Jewish cuisine, but there are many Buddhist strict Vegetarian (incl. no scallion, green onion, seafood, etc) restaurants that can be distinguished by a swastika on the sign (opposite direction of the Nazi version).

I did a Shabbes in Taipei about 2 years ago

Services are held in the Landis Hotel (led by an orthodox rabbi - but not very traditional)

Meals can be arranged in the hotel restaraunt - double wrapped Salmon is what i got. The rabbi sets it all up and you just pay after Shabbes

PM me for more details - also let me know when you will be in Taipei - i am headed there next week
