No need to arrange inadvance. You can take the "airport limo" which has a desk after you clear customs and you prepay at the desk. BHT550 for a smaller car (Toyota Altis) or BHT650 for larger car (Toyota Camry); cars are clean & well mantained , IMO the best value airport-hotel transfer in the world !

You can also get a metered taxi - there is a kiosk to the right, just outside the arrivals exit. Or, walk about 50 meters straight out of arrivals and a bit to the left and you will find them in the parking lot.

Probably about B480 to get into Patong (which includes the B100 airport charge). So, not much of a savings.

i once paid 400 baht for a taxi to get from hkt to patong and thought that i was getting ripped off. after reading this topic, not so sure about that.

there's also a minibus that costs 100 baht, BUT, it won't leave until EVERY seat is filled AND it stops midway at a travel agency where they attempt to book hotel rooms for everybody on the minibus. more of a pain than the savings is worth...

my experience has been that taxi drivers on phuket island will not use their meters, and that you must always negotiate fares. that's complicated in that in patong beach, they all collude to keep the fares high.

Last week I used the car service desk in the terminal after you exit the baggage claim area. Rate was 550 Baht to Patong, car was a new, well-maintained Toyota Camry. Very easy. BTW, it is a fun trip, up and over the hills into Patong.

Returning to HKT I arranged transport at my hotel. Also 550 THB, similar car.

Trip time was ~ 40 minutes.

The reason why I would prefer an advance prepaid transfer is to avoid the crowd at the counter at HKT. Is the "Limo company" your refer to this one?

Not sure what the company was? I just walked up to the counter. The crowd consisted of me. I arrived on a loaded TG 747, albeit without checked luggage and as a domestic passenger, so maybe avoided any subsequent crowds? Won't you still have to wait, even with a pre-paid transfer?

As mentioned I paid 550 THB, walked outside with the driver to a Camry at the curb. The entire process took 120 seconds.

It must have been an "operational upgrade" :p
The BHT550 fare is meant to be the smaller Altis which they recommend if there are only 1 or 2 passengers. I usually get "upgraded" when I call them to pick me up from the hotel.

The longest queue ever at the counter (international arrival) was 2 person infront of me. Usually there was no one else.

Yes. There is only one official limo company based at HKT.

Thank you to all of you for your input. The transfers did perfectly well with the airport limo, right on time, no bad surprise! Will rely on them again next time and would encourage anyone else to do so as well.....

One day last year, all flights were delayed BKK-HKT.

Obviously, we weren't the first of the delayed flights to land.

After landing, and having no checked bags, we bought our taxi ticket from the counter inside. We didn't realize how many other people had already bought in front of us, or that all the taxis had just left and it would be an hour until they completed thier round-trip to Patong/Karon/Kata and back.

We were the lucky ones. At #17, we only waited an hour. Many more (everyone on that flight that waited for thier bags 1st) waited alot longer than we did. Must have been 30 or more groups of people waiting when we finally caught our ride.

UNUSUAL as this day was, it shows the upside of prebooking.

Now we have our friends taxi pick us up everytime. ^
Costs us the same, but at least we don't wait for hours :)

Looking at this thread and other readily available information online, I think most are saying it costs THB 550 for the limo-taxi from airport to Patong, and around THB 350 ish for metered taxi. However, do both prices include the THB 100 surcharge/tax ?

BHT550 is all you pay for the airport "limo" to Patong.
