We should start thinking about a chairman who has better skills than US Airways/America West’s current chairman.
I can think of two candidates that I would nominate, Borat and Frank Lorenzo.

Before I suggest a replacement, I think I'll wait for a day when the Chairman's stock doesn't rise 17%. Wish I was a shareholder.

no.. my bad....
Actually.. Frankenstein.. as someone pointed out in the DL Forums thats what a combined DL/US/HP would be like. Mismatched pieces thrown together.

LONGINGFORPIEDMONT would actually bring some common sense management to US Airways, and would receive my non-facetious nomination.
(PS – I moved from Pittsburgh to Florida in 1981 with six extra large boxes on a Piedmont Hop-Scotch fare.)

Perhaps they were. But what better way should Parker's success be measured?
I generally like your analyses on this board, ClueByFour, they ring true. But I don't really see many similarities between '99 Enron and '06 LCC.

So are you claiming that US execs are engaging in a criminal conspiracy? If not, you might want to find a better analogy.

My point being that you cannot judge a CEO by 18 months of stock performance.

I sure am. If I offered you the chance to buy a bunch of Sep 2001-priced hp shares would you accept? If I had told you in Sep 2001 that the small regional airline would be attempting an $8B hostile takeover of DL, would you have had me committed?

Yes, in 1986... and they also acquired Henson Aviation (which became Piedmont Commuter) in 1983. Source (http://www.jetpiedmont.com/footnotes/?DO=HIS&WK=1980)

That's because I'm seeing a remarkable lack of long-term strategic thought and absolutely zero operational acumen.

If you think FT'ers want judgement day NOW, try being pressured by the shareholders. I work for a fortune 50 co, and all we seem to say is "shareholder value!!!" I can imagine ole' Dougie wanting to bury his head in the sand some days!
