I will be visiting Thailand for the first time in a few weeks and wanted to see if anyone could fill me in on proper tipping in various situations (cab, restaurants etc).

Normally just round up the charges - perhaps to the next 10 baht for short cab rides to 20 baht for longer rides - some tip for restaurants but nothing like the 15% in the US.

It's all over the map. Some restaurants charge a 10% service charge on the bill, so no tipping is required. Many Thais don't typically tip on taxis, or in establishments where the owner/operator/family is on premises.

Some ideas:

10% - 20% on personal services, i.e. haircut, massage etc. based on the quality of service
10-20 b in an attended washroom
Round-up to the nearest 10/20 baht on taxis, to 50 b in restaurants
10% in nightclubs (here you might give your server a tip directly, they keep that, if you leave money with the bill those tips get shared)
20b per bag for a bellman
