I just booked a reservataion w/ AA using
points for a F award on JAL. The seating on
the plane is 2 by 2 with JAL Plan K12. Can
you please give me some input on the comfort
of the seats and service. I read previous
posts. KIX is Kansai, Osaka. My friend
really wants to try JAL because it has such
a "good" reputation. Is it deserved or just
air? Thanks

I just returned from flying JAL in biz class from SFO/Narita and back. Food service was mediocre. Continental was far superior. It was on par with Delta and American. United in some respects has been a little better.
First cabin looked comfortable, though a little old. Flight attendants were helpful, but certainly not award winning. I have a friend in Japan who flies them frequently and isn't that impressed.

Can someone tell me the first class on this route is the new fully flat bed? How is the service/seat on LAX - KIX route compared to LAX - NRT route?

Not that I exactly know. Hence the reason
for starting this post. Looks like route
is 2-2 and not full flat. LAX to NRT if like
SFO to NRT looks to be "solo" seats which
look to be full flat. Someone help us
please.

I would strongly recommend that you choose NRT.

For any airlines, KIX is not an attractive market and they do not fly as good equipment as they do to and from NRT.

All sounds good. Now into KIX and out of
NRT via PEK. Thanks

I believe all of JL's 747s have full flat seating in first. Not all have the solo seats; the other alternative is 3 rows of 2x2 "coffin" seats. They're pretty comfortable, but not as much so as the "suites" offered on other airlines (don't know how the solo seats compare).

I flew JL from JFK to Sao Paulo in F -- the food & service was vastly superior to AA.

They have recently upgraded all their fleet?

I had a non-flat seat in June on NRT-HKG. The leg rest was flat for sure ... but not the back...
