View Full Version : Quick Question on Oversell (w/ PHL-LGW Connection)

Hi All - This Friday I'm flying PHX-PIT-PHL-LGW. The PHX-PIT leg is sold out and has been for at least 24 hours. All fare buckets are zeroed out and preferred line confirmed it's oversold (but no indication by how many).

If I take a VDB, will US still guarantee me a seat on the T/A leg? My remaining options to make the flight are PHX-PHL direct (2 flights avail), PHX-DEN-PIT-PHL, or attempting routing on another carrier.

If I VDB the first flight and am IDBed on another leg prior to the T/A, will US confirm me a seat on the next night's T/A? Alternatively, can I VDB a second time (guaranteeing a mis-connect) and get on the next day's flight?

Sorry for the hypotheticals, I'm just wondering if I can VDB/IDB and still get a seat... FWIW, the PHL-LGW flights are pretty open both Friday and Saturday.

Oh, BTW, I'd be curious about anyone's recent experiences using miles to upgrade to Envoy - my own experience suggests they are getting *very* generous about which fare codes are upgradeable.

Warbo - if you're reading this, I'd love any advice on what to do in and around London for three days (I apologize in advance for being geographically inept - I realize you're in Liverpool and I have no idea how close/far that is from London).

Thanks for your advice/thoughts!

Sean

Really? That's good news. Do you know what (additional) fare codes are now eligible for T/A upgrades?

In my experience they are reluctant to accept passengers with international connections for VDBs. They'll try anyone except for you first because of the associated complexity/cost of re-routing you.
