I am planning on going to Sumter, SC on Dec 11-14. Since I have never flown through CLT in December, would anyone recommend driving the 3 hours from CLT or making a connection through CLT to CHS and driving the 1 hour?

It looks like the PHX-CLT-CHS (Flt 1542 and 2214) has a 2.5 hr connection time but the CHS-CLT-PHX (Flt 930 and 1515) only has a 45 minute connection time. Is 45 minutes reasonable in CLT?

Since this is a business trip, I don't want weather to be a major factor and the price difference is about $140.

Thanks for any advice.

Mark

Welcome to Flyertalk, gonzoinaz

A better (and cheaper :) ) option is to fly into Columbia, SC (CAE), and drive from there to Sumter, SC, less than 50 miles away. Charleston, SC is more than 100 miles away...

PHX-CLT-CAE Dec 11 on US 1550 (redeye)/4289 and return Dec 14 on US 2521/1507 currently prices at only $213 + on US website, lower than PHX-CLT or PHX-CLT-CHS.

Mid-December weather in CLT generally poses no problems. Have a good trip!

45 minutes in Charlotte is doable.

A few weeks ago I had a trip that would have taken 4 hours, door to door, by car or 3 hours, door to door, by plane and a short drive. I flew.
