I was wondering if someone could tell me what there experience has been in regards to the length of time it takes for miles to be debited from your account when you use them for a TA upgrade. I traveled in early October, upgrading to Envoy both ways (60k miles r/t) and still haven't seen the miles come out of my account. How long does this sort of thing usually take? Maybe I got hooked up, although it seems unlikely that this would happen going both ways.

Keep quiet and move on. I suspect someone goofed and you got a free upgrade, especially given the travel is in the past. Unless I'm thinking of a different carrier, mileage deductions are real time when you're on the phone with the agent making the arrangements.

Same happened to me. Cashed in 10K miles each way for Envoy from a B fare, miles never got deducted.
Sometimes you get lucky.

Yeah, don't say a word about it. Any time I have used miles, the miles are deducted from my account before the plane even takes off! If they could only put miles into my account that fast!

I thought the same thing when I upgraded a TA Y fare in 2005 and the miles weren't pulled. Turns out they pulled them about 4 months later . I hadn't said a thing...
It was a bit discomforting to see 10k miles pulled suddenly until I remembered why and confimed it with a phone call.

Did a couple of 20K r/t upgrades and the miles didn't get pulled for months, but they did eventually get debited.
I wonder what would have happened if I had spent them in the meantime?

I upgraded a friend of mine using 20,000 miles for a domestic upgrade. The upgrade was done at the last minute and the CP desk ended up calling inventory management to release a seat for me. My friend got her upgrade but the miles were never deducted. That was over 5 months ago, I dont think they will end up taking them at this point.

Yup, looks like you got lucky ^
Usually, my rewards are deducted from my account at the time of booking.
Congrats :D

Thanks for the replies, it looks like its possible that they could still come out but unlikely. I did book this trip about 4 hours before the trip started (booked at noon and was flying at 5pm) so I imagine that somehow something got lost in the confusion of things. Also I had to extend the return (refundable ticket) so that probably added to the confusion. I'll keep quiet and if they don't get deducted so much the better. Considering what I paid for my last minute ticket which wasn't even Y or B (hence 30k miles for an upgrade) I don't feel too bad about it :)
