Excluding the MR, I have been to following islands -
Oahu 3X
Maui 3X
Hawaii 3X
Kauai 2X
Obviously, Hawaii is my family's favorite vacation destinations and except for 2 trips, rest have on award trips on AA, NW and UA. :D From the east coast, Hawaiian tickets have bigger bang for the miles.
My favorite islands are Kauai and Hawaii. ^

I hope to be in Kauai and Hawaii in May.
Three times in Oahu, first two as stopovers, then my gf agreed to my proposal on our holiday there. ^:D
With six months to go, I suppose I'd better book some accommodation!
Thanks to all re. my questions - I need to get those 'Revealed' books and 'book-em'. :)

So far, the favorite is Kauai. It used to be the Big Island. Depending upon the length of the trip we always spend 1 week in Oahu. For the past several years, we've been going 2x per year.

No worries! I merely seized the opportunity for a funny parody post, and NJ place-names lend themselves particularly well to humor! Maui is roaring toward overdevelopment, of course, but we still own the night! (and parts of May and September.) We'll meet you and jtkauai on Molokai for holo-holo anytime!

This election season, I'm casting my vote for Molokai. Been there about ten times, and love the peace and quiet, as well as the massive waves that break along the western shore. The Big Island is a close second, and with my fascination of volcanoes, I've insisted on heading to Kilauea virtually every trip.

Oahu-2 (Waikiki 1st time & Kailua 2nd time)
Maui-2 (Hana 1st time, Napili Bay 2nd time, Upcountry 2nd time)
Big Island-2 (Volcano Village both times, Waikoloa 2nd time)
Kauai-2 (Princeville though we drove all over the place)
We liked all of the Islands and it would be very hard to pick a favorite. Our current preference is to go for 11 to 14 days and stay on one island, but split the time between different regions on the island. With the recent birth of our daughter (now 6 months old), I imagine our preferences will change again. Probably won't be able to do another trip until 2008 unfortunately.

I know someone who got to go to Niihau and even meet with people there as a guest of the Robinson family, but it was some 35 or so years ago. He wasn't allowed to take any pictures.
I think Maui is redeemed by the Tastykake (?) restaurant in Wailuku (best pancakes I've gotten anywhere on the planet) and both Makena beaches south of Kihei. Some of the drives are beautiful.
Oahu is much-maligned but, at my budget level, it's hard to argue with some of the Priceline and Entertainment deals I've gotten over the years in Waikiki. Basic expenses on the neighbor islands are much higher. Too many days of that and I'll get into what-if scenarios about how far the same money could go in, say, southern Thailand.

While we're on this subject, what's the name of the Saimin place in Wailuku/Kahului? I can't seem to put my finger on it right now.
Edit: Sorry, it just came to me: Sam Sato's.
Great place for a good saimin. :)

Being associated with NW, I've been to all the Islands quite a few times-they seem like my second home. They are all different, they all have great golf courses. That being said, the Big Island-much to see and do, somehow it seems less touristy to me. Rent a 4 wheel drive and make your own roads up by the volcanoes and just enjoy the view. Was my least favorite island 20 years ago, but now my favorite.
Kauai- everything, love Poipu Beach and up at the end of road. Noticed too many cigarette butts on that beach last time-hope that changes or has changed.
Oahu- North shore
Maui- Hana and botanical gardens. Makena to Lahaina beautiful drive.
Don't get to go back till next May, but getting homesick just thinking about it.

My wife and I have been to the Hawaiian Islands only three times. While there, I am constantly amazed by the diversity of the landscape.
First time we flew into Honolulou to stay a few days before heading off to other islands. Kawaii and Hawaii.
Second time we flew to Mauii for the week and did a day trip to Molokai via the ferry. (a very slow vomit comet :p ) Want to return to Molokai. Part of the attraction is the lack of attractions. Want to return to Mauii for the bike ride from the volcano to the sea. 30+ miles without pedaling. It doesn't get any better than that.
Third time? Not quite there yet. Will be in about 10 hours. Sitting in Dallas AA AC waiting for boarding.
Aloha Y'all! Wee-Hah!

You are going to LOVE this story. It is true.
My friend Jimmy, who tends bar in Lahaina, was on a surf trip to Indonesia when he lost his passport and ID. So he trudges off to the American Embassy to get help. After hearing Jimmy's story, the embassy staffer says: "I'm from Maui. If you're from Maui, what's the name of the general store in Hana?" and Jimmy says "Hasagawa's." Jimmy says the guy just looked at him and smiled and said "Here's your passport."
