how quickly can I get miles to post? I'm in need of 2018 miles to get an upgrade for a relative, I'm willing to even buy 2K miles if I need to - just looking for 18 right now. Did register with points.com yesterday but I need to upgrade the ticket in question for Thanksgiving week so I have to do it STAT before it's gone. Anyone know of a sure-fire way to get miles to log as it occurs? (BTW, I am renting a car tomorrow 11/18 - will that do the trick if I post the miles to US Air?)

The quickest way is to fly (2 days). Cars are pretty consistant at 11 days. I have never purchased miles. I assume they would post fairly quickly.

Take a United flight, they always post first on my trips that are a mix of US/UA. Usually the next day.

Thanks for your help. I purchased flowers almost 2 weeks ago - they haven't posted yet plus got frequent flyer points from Hertz on 11/16 which still haven't posted as of 11/20.

I was able to buy the upgrade outright for $150 day of so I did that. And a good thing to b'c the FAA grounded flights in/out of SAN on 11/19 evening so everyone was bumped into the future. Having a FC seat helped get the next available flight out!
