I am looking for a Hotel room 1 night in SIN for 24 Nov. Likely places such as rates to go and laterooms show high end places very expensive - must be busy business time. anybody recommend a place that is mid riange and maybe $S100 that night. In a perfect world it has a gym or pool. Thanks,
Swiss Tony

Asia Travel (www.asiatravel.com) is quoting the Grand Central for S$128 and is available that night. It is a pre-paid rate and it's an extra $20 for a Deluxe room over the Superior. This is well located (behind The Le Meridien on Orchard Rd) and has a pool.

S$100 a night is going to be a tad impossible to find - that's around US$65.
Try going to http://www.asiarooms.com/ and source your rooms there. You can change the currency bar to S$ to give you a better gauge.
Or else there are the hotel 81s... just don't book the rooms at Geylang District.

I do hope you mean US$ 100.. then your choices are better that way...

Bear in mind that Asia Rooms doesn't quote live availability, so it can become a bit of a pain. Also, my limited experience with them has been that even if a hotel has rooms, they're not ncessarily bookable at the Asia Rooms rate.
Must admit I did think you were talking US$, not S$...

I have the same experience with Asia Rooms, very frustrating. I will never book through them again no matter how cheap a rate they quote.
A better online agent would be www.asiatravel.com , no problem so far.

I guess it depends on how much you want to be staying in the red light district of Singapore, and the accompanying to-ing and fro-ing from the hotel all night. That being said, it's still Singapore, so even for a red light district it's not particuarly seedy. There's also plenty of activity around in the way of eating options late into the night as well, so it's a lively district all round after dark. It's not too far a walk to the MRT either, so could prove worthwhile for someone just looking for a place to crash for the night (and without setting the bar of expectations too high at all :D ).

It might be worth taking a look at http://www.wotif.com/search/Simple?refine=simpleSearch&country=5®ion=996&viewType=all - there's a reasonable range of lower end properties available to book, and they all feature instant confirmation. The Park View Hotel is a decent enough 3* place, reasonably well located though no gym or pool I believe (not sure you'd find any with a gym or pool for under SG$100 these days).

There are a number of smaller hotels in Little India in the about SG$100 range. Perak Hotel (almost opposite Sim Lim Square - source of anything computer in Singapore) is quite clean and even acceptable to Mrs WF. No elevator in the three floors - though that might make up for the lack of a gym :p There are a couple of others in the same price range nearby.

YMCA Orchard through Asiatravel would be an option.
I like Hotel 81, but I guess I'd have to agree that Geylang might be a bit heavy duty for a lot of S'pore visitors. Lots of intense street activity, if that's ok. Good, inexpensive food of all kinds.
It's pretty easy to avoid the red light aspects. And ask for a quiet room away from the lift.

For S$100, you can try Robertson Quay Hotel or Hangout at Mount Emily or Royal Peacock Hotel.
