Help with nice hotel close to TD Banknorth (Fleet Center). Going to a Celtics game. Can I walk. How far away is the Logan airport?

The relatively-new Onyx Hotel (http://www.onyxhotel.com/onxmapa/) is just a block or two from the Garden. Never stayed there, so can't comment on it.
Logan Airport is just a few miles from the Garden. By car/cab, the trip can be anywhere from 5-45 minutes, depending on traffic. You can also get from the Garden to the airport by subway -- this requires 2 transfers, and will take 15-30 minutes.

In my mind you're better off staying in a more hospitable (i.e. nice) area. There isn't a whole lot immediately around the Garden except bars and a few restaurants.
Stay downtown and take the T the two stops to the Garden (it has its own T stop). Logan is accessible by T and about a 30 minute trip from downtown (there's a stupid bus involved to take you to the terminals that adds time).

Lots of us do! In fact, just look at the posts in this thead.
The Bostonian Hotel (is it called the Millennium Hotel now?) is a decent hotel that is adjacent to Faneuil Hall (one of Boston's major tourist attractions) and walking distance to the Garden. I agree with others, however, that you needn't worry yourself with proximity to the Garden: Boston is a small enough city that you can get around among the airport, the Garden and all of the downtown neighborhoods will relative ease either by taxi or (preferably) by subway (the "T").
