KIPAHULU – Construction of a temporary span alongside the damaged Paihi Bridge began as scheduled on Monday, county officials said.

The county executed an emergency procurement contract with Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. for the work, which is expected to be completed by Dec. 1.
