Hi,
Is there cheap place to take shower in Lihue area? I'm planning MR to LIH and I'll have about 6 hours.
Thanks!

Yikes.....
The only place I can think of with outdoor showers is the Grand Hyatt pool area. It's about 20 minutes from LIH.
Actually, there's a shower that's pretty private along one of the walking paths away from the pools. If you go this route, let me know & I'll give you more specific directions.
I'm sure there are other hotels in the area with outdoor showers. You may have to shower with your bathing suit on, but heck, it's Hawaii :)
You could also pay for a day pass to any of the many hotel spas & use their facilities.
Other than that, sorry, I can't be of more help.

Any of the county beach parks have outdoor showers. Not great, but they are showers. Water isn't cold (though it isn't hot).
Lydgate is a nice, closeby choice (5 miles). Also the park next to Nawiliwili harbor (2 miles). Nothing accessible without a rental car.
Bring soap and towel.

I'm surprised that JT didn't suggest hitching to Nawilili or Lydgate.
Hitching remains a viable transportation option on Kaua'i.
Bet you wouldn't wait 15 minutes for a lift either way.
Another option might be to attempt to jump the Marriott shuttle from LIH which will deposit you at the front door of the hotel . . . < 5 minute walk to the beach / shower. My guess is that a few $ tip would get you on the bus with no trouble at all.

Great idea on the Marriott shuttle Lihue1k.
I personally wouldn't recommend hitchhiking, and will just leave it at that.
Mahalo for your input!
Unfortunately, the price went up by the time I tried to book. So I had to change to KOA.
However, I'll be back to Kauai next April with my family.

Mileage-running to Hawaii. I just couldn't do it -- I'd HAVE to stay a few days.
Not sure how many hours you'll have at KOA, but since the airport is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, I'm guessing you'd need a car to go anywhere. With any luck, you should be able to rent a car at KOA for about $30/day, including taxes.
