I just noticed that you can get a 5 day unlimited intra-island pass on Hawaiian for about $350US. Does anyone know if you can credit the miles from these flights to your frequent flyer program and if so could these count as status miles with any of Hawaiian's partners (American, Continental, Northwest and Virgin Atlantic?)
Just thinking this might be a reasonable mileage run scenario.

Sorry for the disappointing info, but when you buy any type of unlimited flight pass (tourist pass or commuter pass) from Hawaiian Airlines, you only get 2500 miles upon purchase. You do not get any miles for the actual flights.
I don't know if Aloha Airlines has the same policy for their passes...

Thought this was only available to HA residents? Have you a way around this?

I thought the "unlimited" pass was for non-HI residents. Hawaiian air Island Pass (http://www.hawaiianair.com/about/services/pass.asp)
Aloha has a 7 day pass for $321, but not sure if miles can be earned (one time or otherwise).

I thought the thread was about the HA $350 pass, has nothing to do with Aloha.
The HA site states it can only be mailed to a HA address and the HA/Mainland flight that it can be exchanged for has to originate in HA.
Can we pin this thread down to one or the other, or shall I remain confused?

No longer confused. There are two offers out there. One is for residents and one is for howlies (sp). I was referring to the $330. deal.

The $350.00 5-day pass is for unlimited travel (almost unlimited) between the islands.
The $330.00 interisland coupon book is for 6 o/w interisland flights.
Original topic was for the unlimited 5-day pass. The Aloha reference is just FYI, and to compare prices. 5-days for $350.00 or 7-days for $321.00. If miles can't be earned on these deals, price should play a big part.

HA sells two different types of one week passes. One is targeted for tourists, the other for commuters. The one for tourists is slightly cheaper, and can only be sold to non-residents of Hawaii. The commuter pass is more expensive ($375, I believe) and gets your unlimited inter-island travel for 7 days.
Coupon books are a completely different animal, and are supposed to be sold to residents of Hawaii only. But it's easy for non-residents to get them. The coupons are sold in books of six, where each coupon is good for a one-way trip. The coupons currently sell for about $50-$55 each.
Clear as mud?

If the coupon books are only supposed to be sold to non residents, it it kind of a joke the way they handle it. I recently called, said I was a non resident, was told, I can book your flights and hold seats but you will not be able to buy the coupon book until you are at a ticket counter here in Hawaii. Wouldn't it be better for them to get my money sooner rather than later?

I guess it would be innacurate to say that the coupon books are only supposed to be sold to Hawaii residents. A more accurate statement would be that they are only to be sold in the state of Hawaii. So they are targeted at Hawaii residents.
You can buy the coupons one at a time at the Bank of Hawaii ATM in the HNL airport with a credit card...but you won't get the absolute best price.
